Tanker Berthing Mooring and Risk Support

ONA were recently awarded a challenging mooring operational and technical scope supporting tanker offtake operations on a failed terminal mooring in a harsh marine environment in close proximity to shore.

The scope required ONA to investigate and assess DP vessel supported berthing (live anchoring) at the berth including risk framing and evaluation of operability limits. The scope was awarded to ONA based on our comprehensive experience evaluating and engineering tanker hold off engineering for various operators over the years including:

  • Woodside, Cossack Pioneer FPSO
  • CNOOC, Huizhou, Semi FSO
  • Inpex Ichthys Explorer, Semi FPU
  • Shell Prelude, FLNG
  • Woodside, OKHA FPSO
  • Santos, VI Terminal Tanker
  • Woodside Ngujima Yin, FPSO
  • NOGA, Northern Endeavour FPSO

Mooring integrity evaluation of the failed mooring components had been completed by our sister company ONA Marine.

Using in-house and commercial analysis software, ONA also undertook hydrodynamic assessments, mooring analysis and strength assessments and provide operational mitigations for execution on site.

Through ONA were able to support safe and successful tanker berthing and offtake operations twice in 2022.
